Introduced on Sept. 12, 2007, this bill's stated purpose is to provide procedures for the proper classification of employees and independent contractors, and for other purposes. It was read twice, and referred to the Committee on Finance, so it doesn't seem to have much chance of passing this year.
On the other hand, it was introduced by Barack Obama, and has 6 sponsors, including Hillary Clinton and Ted Kennedy, so it might not pass the Senate in this form but might be back later in the year attached to one of the appropriate bills.
